At long last we have a piano teaching method designed for Preschoolers. Traditionally, the ideal time to start to have lessons would be between 6-8 years once a child was comfortable with arbitrary concepts, could read comfortably, and had a good degree of manual dexterity.

WIth WunderKeys, lessons can start as early as 3 years.

The needs of preschool children are different to those of older piano learners. Preschoolers depend on a carefully-constructed approach to learning where foundation skills are mastered using a variety of teaching methods. These foundation skills then form the basis for all future learning.

Before reading musical notation independently, your child will learn the concepts that form the framework for understanding how to read notes on the staff and will develop an aural awareness through the exploration of concepts such as high and low sounds, long and short sounds, symbolism, musical patterns and directional movement. Along the way, they will be exposed to the rhythms and patterns of music through carefully-constructed rhythm activities and duets with the teacher.
Through repetition, a multi-sensory environment and time, these foundation skills will lead to your child reading and playing music independently.
We will be on and off the piano stool exploring musical concepts, playing duets, engaging in game-based learning and using hands-on methods to reinforce early music concepts.
